Dr. Arslan received the B.S. degree (with honors) from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Duke University, Durham, USA, in 1991, 1993, and 1996, respectively. He worked at Texas Instruments Speech Research group for 6 months, and Entropic Research for 2 years. In 1998, he joined Boğaziçi University where he is currently a professor of electrical and electronic engineering. His current research interests are voice conversion, speech recognition, speech synthesis, speech enhancement, and 3-D face synthesis. Dr. Arslan is involved in various projects. Among those there are two Europian Union FP6 projects, namely, SIMILAR and BIOSECURE. He is also involved in two EUREKA projects, and 4 Nationally funded research projects. He is also founder of two speech research companies, namely GVZ and SESTEK. He holds 9 international patents, and has authored or coauthored 70 scientific papers in refereed journals or conference proceedings.
